an untitled newsletter
2025 is supposed to be the “year” of achievements, dreams, and goals … wrong. nothing worked out as I had poorly planned, so you can guess it started on a very very low note
not all is lost?
i am now an individual member of the django software foundation(dsf). this means i got the opportunity to contribute to the django community in a couple of ways, but i think my main focus would be making the dsf know to as many africans as possible, and probably serve in a working group.
i will be speaking at djangocongress japan. the topic: speed at scale for django applications. i did a lot of web speed and performance talks in 2024, and i would want to tackle it from both sides, front and back. let’s see how that goes
employment?
i am a developer(i don’t flow with the software engineer term). all i think of is writing code, that may wor
k. and that’s what i would want to do till the day we leave for mars, and become a goose farmer.
in the meantime, i do help a few individuals and organizations visualize their not-so-easy-to-implement ideas. i just made up a portfolio site for that, chrisdevcode, for lack of a worser name.
projects?
i love the web. the progressive part of it. i am exploring different web patterns and why developers should bother understanding them, with the help of a good sir, edwin maye and this serious project: pwafire!
https://github.com/achingachris/web-patterns
i also love data, probably the few years of working with a data intensive job description. i am buidling what i temporarily call: people workbook. a hard code that explains and demos how organizations can structure their data, collect it well, store it like it matters, and make sone good graphs out of it!
the community?
building and maintaing communities is a tough job! well i’d rather focus on maintaining exisiting communities at the moment, focusing on working on smaller groups that respect the very many seconds i have on the planet.
i do not like how some communities are monetizing the concepts of communities, it stinks btw, but i will keep doing whatever seems fair and good, keep the big man happy(i am the man, not yet big)
writting?
i have also resume technical writting, publishing on medium and dev.to. any topics that makes sense to me shall be written by me.
i will publish member only articles on my medium, but will also be sharing friendly links on my boring X TL, and then on dev.to some weeks later.
newsletter??
i want to have my own format, my own writting style, make my own grammar mistakes and not owning them.
i definately want to be sharing resources to great tools and articles and opportunities and maybe good developer meetups, speaking of which: djangocon africa 2025.
SEE YOU NEXT TIME
