still untitled, but a newsletter kind of thing.
this has been my go to playlist(Spotify):
and my favorite song(past couple of weeks):
so mongodb announced that they will supporting django. something called django-mongodb-backend? i was really happy, so i thought of trying it out. i wanted to integrate mongodb into a live django project, but …
i comment on the dev.to announcement, but for now, one has to use the starter template they have.

good thing to have this out for developers, good to note that mongodb team didn’t just decide to create this, it’s from the the results of django developer surveys(2022 - 2023).
djangocon africa
it’s happening in Arusha, August 11th to 15th:
https://2025.djangocon.africa/
i have a lot of good memories from the previous djangocon africa, it’s where i knew that django software foundations exists and met a django core contributor/s, and what they do. i also got to learn more on python software foundation.
i wanna encourage many developers from africa to apply for the call for proposals, after all, it’s for africans right??
here’s my experience:

first talk of 2025?
i’m still preping for my djangocongress jp 2025 talk, Speed at Scale for Django Web Applications. I gave a couple of talks on web last year, focusing mainly on the client side optimizations and performances. this time i am doing both. speedy apps from both server side and the client side.
i will be building a couple of big projects on django, and this talk allows me to do some top level research on that. https://www.mashabikisportshouse.co.ke/ is one of them.
one of the talks i’m looking forward to is Diving into DSF governance: past, present and future by Sarah Abderemane(vp of the dsf).

last words!
a word on the community. i think if people start to think of ways to make money from communities, then we no longer have community members, we have subscribers. many developers i know and look upto them, were made by the communities.
now we have content-last tech events, content last communities focused on hyping tools and technologies, but never not, content, valuable content that grows them people!
